One bride recounts the journey of her wedding gown from an elopement in Alaska to a local reception at home.
For some brides, the wedding gown becomes more than a dress; it becomes a reminder of all the places love has taken them. For this bride, that journey included mountains, glaciers, two celebrations, and the search for a preservation team she could truly trust.
Lacey Peterson discovered Owl Premier & Bridal after deep-diving through online reviews and Facebook recommendations. Having heard a few cautionary tales of dry-cleaning mishaps elsewhere, she approached the process with understandable nerves. But Owl Premier & Bridal stood out immediately. With pages of glowing reviews, she felt confident entrusting her gown to a team known widely for exceptional, museum-quality care.
While she didn’t walk into her wedding dress appointment knowing she would preserve her gown, the decision became crystal clear once her alterations were finished.
“I loved my wedding dress and never felt more beautiful than when I was wearing it,” she shared. And she had the rare joy of experiencing it twice: first during an intimate elopement in Alaska, and again at a hometown reception with family and friends.
But after returning from Alaska, she worried about the toll the landscape took on her dress. Walking across mountains and glaciers left behind grass and dirt stains, the kind most brides brace themselves to accept. Instead, she was stunned when every single stain disappeared.
“I was amazed that they came out entirely. I couldn’t see where any of the stains used to be!”
What impressed her even more was the meticulous care she experienced from Heather and the Owl team. During drop-off, Heather carefully inspected the gown and pointed out minor imperfections the bride hadn’t even noticed. All of them were repaired, leaving the gown looking as though it had never touched a trail, let alone hiked across one.
One of the biggest challenges of her multi-location wedding adventure was figuring out how to fly with her gown. Determined not to check it, she found a carry-on-friendly garment bag and hoped for the best. Thankfully, the airlines were incredibly accommodating, allowing her to board early, helping her store the gown safely, and even hanging it in the coat closet on a few flights. A small detail, but one that helped keep her dress in beautiful shape for both celebrations.
With her dress now professionally cleaned, restored, and preserved, she’s grateful to know that those memories, every glacier step, every vow, every celebration, are protected.
Her advice to future brides? Keep your heart at the center of the planning process.
“Never lose sight of what the day is truly about,” she shared. “Focus on being present, on your love, and on creating memories that reflect you.”
And finally: preserve the gown. “It holds so much more than fabric. It carries the memories, emotions, and story of one of the most meaningful days of your life.”
